Quinta Melilotus is set in 6.6ha of almond, fig and olive groves and now new herb and vegetable gardens where we harvest as much fresh, organic salad and veg as possible. We are near a dry river bed set in the campo yet within walking distance of two nearby villages and just minutes drive from multiple sandy beaches, secret coves, fascinating rock formations and caves and stunning cliff walks as well as the bustling town of Lagos with all its modern amenities set within the backdrop of its ancient town walls, marina and winding cobblestone streets.

Expansive, creative activities over the last three years have provided the herb farm with 3 beautiful wooden cabins, a 5m hexagonal healing and concert space, a small music recording studio, 3 compost toilets, a double shower and sink block and a bright, communal kitchen and living area (where limited wifi and electricity charging points are available). For outside living and dining experience, we have a wonderful shaded decking area with sofa and armchairs to relax after your meal al fresco! We even have a small swimming pool and sun spot area!

Guests (and participants when we are running our herbal courses and retreats) have wooden  cabin accommodation on site near the shared shower block and compost toilets. Staying with us is a rustic down to earth experience on our off grid, water saving and eco-friendly herb farm and healing nature centre. Water pumped from our bore hole, hot water for showers and all electrical needs are generated by solar power.

We also have ample shaded areas with hammocks and many small benches dotted around the land for you to find the perfect place to have a quiet seat. Our meditation area/sacred space on the land -  the Temple, is available for small yoga groups, concerts and meditation.

The working herbal dispensary we use for our courses is adjacent to the communal kitchen and herb walks, individual herbal tutorial days and herbal/massage consultations can be arranged by appointment.

We have an ever expanding number of fully mulched vegetable beds with plenty of companion herb plants and our 12m herb wheel has many varieties of herbs grown from organic seed and cuttings collected by us on our travels or from the gardens of friends.

We also planted over a small vineyard and hundreds of trees including citrus trees, carob trees, medronhos, avocado trees, fig, caci/persimmon trees, Thuja trees, Cypresses,Tea trees, Nespeiro trees, walnut, apricot, cherry, peach, pear and pomegranate trees (thank you to all the helpers).

Wind break tree planting with conifers, cedar, willow and aspen are also ongoing.
